ASBESTOS AWARENESS

You are here: Courses > Asbestos Awareness

Asbestos still kills around 5000 workers each year. Its potential presence within any building built or refurbished before the year 2000 means tradesmen and women remain at risk of exposure. Awareness training is essential to ensuring risk is significantly reduced. Our half day course gives delegates the appropriate information on how to avoid disturbing asbestos as well as:

  • Properties of asbestos and its effects on health, including the increased risk of developing lung cancer for asbestos workers who smoke
  • Types, uses and likely occurrence of asbestos and asbestos materials in buildings and plant
  • General procedures to deal with an emergency, e.g. an uncontrolled release of asbestos dust into the workplace.
  • How to avoid the risk of exposure to asbestos.

This course offers theoretical training, interactive exercises and a brief exam to check the knowledge and understanding gained by delegates.
